Austin has been an accomplished musician for over a decade since he started playing piano in 2009 and picked up the guitar in 2015. Austin has received high praise for his musical skills, including superior ratings in piano solo performances at both regional and state levels. He was part of a jazz ensemble that earned a superior rating regionally and an excellent rating at the state level. Austin studied under Sean Steiner for a year, who was a student of the renowned Nelita True. Austin has incorporated Nelita's teachings into his own lessons and stresses the importance of effective practice. Austin believes the best way to learn is through experience and repeated application, allowing students to refine their techniques independently. He feels this immersive process enables faster development. Having seen firsthand how transformative focused practice can be, Austin emphasizes deliberate practice in his teaching so students can maximize their improvement. He aims to share not just how to play, but how to practice correctly. Austin is passionate about the power of music as a universal language and its capacity to create positive change. Through his teaching, he hopes to spread his love of music and help others develop their abilities. Austin is a firm believer that with dedication and proper practice, anyone can excel at music, and is committed to guiding students on their musical journeys and unlocking their potential through an experiential teaching philosophy.

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
