Sarah Townsend Davies is a long time resident of Draper, UT. Sarah started taking piano lessons at age seven and while she has always loved it deep down, her mom is quick to remind her that she had her fair share of stubborn moments battling practicing over the years. This spring, Sarah will celebrate her tenth year of teaching piano. Sharing her love for music is one of Sarah’s greatest passions, as she finds great joy in helping others discover the fun, discipline and even healing that can come from participating in music. As she would say, “playing piano is just good for the soul.”
In high school, Sarah took her love of the piano to the next level by auditioning to be a pianist at the Roof Restaurant in Salt Lake City. After being hired, Sarah thrived in the challenge of constantly expanding her repertoire and performing in front of thousands of guests over the four years she played there. During this time Sarah compiled a music library of nearly 1000 songs on her iPad and gained the skills necessary to learn songs by ear and take requests on demand.
Since high school, Sarah has shared her vast repertoire by playing at dozens of weddings, corporate events and religious functions. Sarah currently enjoys serving as the piano accompanist for her ward’s choir. Sarah attributes much of her success in piano to the inspiring instructors she has studied under including Gina Knowles, Ann Harrington and BYU’s Dr. Robin Hancock. When she is not playing or teaching piano, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, doing Pilates, playing tennis, going snowmobiling and eating good food. Sarah is very thankful for the many families that have supported her in her effort to create this new piano studio and is so excited for the many fun opportunities in store.
