Guitar, Ukulele, Voice, Songwriting | Lehi / Highland

Emily Bea is an indie/pop, singer-songwriter from Salt Lake City, Utah. Emily has always had a love for music – starting music lessons (piano) when she was just six years old. She continued to progress in music, advancing to instruments like the violin and mandolin. But Emily also grew up an avid soccer player, playing competitive soccer. When the time came for trying out for the high school soccer team, she tore her ACL. During her surgery/recovery time, Emily used music as a healing and coping method, and started to experiment with song writing. During this time she also taught herself how to play the guitar, and quickly fell in love with it. She incorporated the guitar into her song writing, and later found a love for performing. After 9 months of recovery and intense physical therapy, she got back to playing soccer- faster and better than she had been before. Until two months later, during a soccer practice, she tore her ACL again. After her second injury she decided to give up the sport she loved, and put her focus into her music. While giving up soccer was one of the hardest decisions she had to make, it turned into a major blessing in disguise, and led her to where she ultimately needed to be. She has had many opportunities and experiences with her music since. She has performed and headlined concerts at various venues around Utah – The Velour, The Depot, The Wall, Gezzo Hall, Sandy 4th of July Celebration, The Utah State Fair, etc. Emily has also had the opportunity to travel throughout the country performing at corporate events, including several times in Las Vegas, Nevada, sharing the stage with acts like, Danny Gokey, Tyrone Wells, Jason Castro, etc. at the Hard Rock Hotel. One of her favorite shows was opening for two-member musical group, “A Great Big World,” in 2012. Emily has recorded and released two albums, “Love A Fair,” (2012) and “Bench for Two,” (2014) both available on iTunes/Spotify/Amazon. Emily most recently released her newest single titled, “Scorpio,” in June of 2016, which will also be part of her upcoming album. Emily is excited to be able to share her passion and love for music as a guitar and songwriting teacher at The Piano Place!

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
