Guitar | South Jordan

Gavin has played guitar for over ten years and has performed in forty live performances ranging from battle of the bands to fundraisers. He's opened for Jessica Andrews, Khleo Thomas, and Jerry Miller who is ranked #68 on Rolling Stone's Greatest Guitarist. Originally born in Utah, he spent most of his life in the Seattle area and the local music scene along with Seattle artists Nirvana and Jimi Hendrix got him into playing guitar in his teens. His inspiration for guitar and continuing his learning comes from his favorite guitarists; Jerry Garcia, John Mayer, John Frusciante, Jimi Hendrix, and Eddie Hazel.

Gavin's teaching philosophy is that it should be fun, after all, that's why we pick up the instrument in the first place. Learning songs from your favorite artists, learning theory and modes to apply in fun ways, and creating interesting chord progressions are among his favorite things. He has experience in many various genres, rock, blues, country, funk, reggae, and R&B but his favorite thing to do is jam and create originals. He's excited to help you on your guitar journey and become the guitarist you want to be.

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
- Billy Joel
