Lindy Hyatt

Piano | Draper, Lehi / Highland

Lindy started taking piano lessons when she was five years old and continued taking lessons for 17 years. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from BYU where she studied with Dr. Irene Peery-Fox. She absolutely loves teaching and has been teaching privately for over eight years. Her favorite part of teaching is helping her students discover that they can do something that used to seem impossible!

She loves the piano, but remembers a time when she didn’t. When she was eight years old, piano just seemed too hard! She had moved on from method books and was trying to navigate her way through classical repertoire and it was so confusing! A family move brought her to a new piano teacher who helped her through this difficult phase, and piano started to become fun! She is so glad that she pushed through the challenge instead of giving up and loves that teaching gives her the chance to motivate and encourage others to do the same.

Before attending BYU Lindy went to Lone Peak High School where she was heavily involved in the choir program. She had the opportunity to accompany the choirs in dozens of performances, including in a concert at Carnegie Hall! As a senior she was excited to be named the Music Sterling Scholar and also to be accepted to BYU’s Piano Performance program with full academic and music scholarships.

After graduating from BYU Lindy served a mission in the beautiful states of New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts. When she’s not at the piano, Lindy loves running, dancing, watching just about any sport, and being with the people she loves.

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
- Billy Joel
