Anne has had a passion for music and performance ever since she was little and saw her first Broadway show and played her first principal role in The Music Man when she was 10 years old. She grew up performing in several Hale Centre Theatre productions such as The Sound of Music, A Tale of Two Cities, A Christmas Carol, and the U.S. Premiere of Zorro! She played several leads in her jr. high and high school musicals such as "Mary" from The Secret Garden, "Dorothy" from The Wizard of Oz, and "Ariel" from The Little Mermaid. It was during those years that she placed in many solo vocal performance regional and state competitions. She was also chosen as her high school’s Sterling Scholar in Vocal Music and was granted a scholarship to continue her study of music at UVU.
After pursuing a year in the BFA Musical Theatre Program at UVU, Anne decided to switch gears and pursue a degree in education, as teaching has always been her goal.
Anne has a strong understanding and training in classical and speech-level vocal technique and has studied with Sarah Boucher Watts, Liz Pike Murdoch, UVU’s Amanda Crabb, and Megan Yates - A Mentor Level Certified Instructor with the Institute for Vocal Advancement. In 2018 and 2019, Anne was the director of her own “Time to Shine” Musical Theatre Summer camp for kids. That was where her passion for teaching the art of singing began.
Anne’s teaching philosophy is that practicing healthy habits from a young age can lead to strong and confident singing later on. Her goal is to help students master proper technique. She also hopes to help her students find their true instruments and to most importantly, love them. Anne believes that we should perform not to prove anything, but to share with, touch, and inspire at least one audience member's soul. If that is done, mission accomplished!
