Joanna graduated from Wellesley College in 2023, where she double majored in Music and Economics. While at Wellesley, she studied piano and Chamber Music with Jenny Tang. As a musician with lots of interests, she has played the piano in Wellesley Chamber Music Society where she also served as the President, piano/trombone in Wellesley BlueJazz and Combos, and percussion in MIT Symphony Orchestra and Brandeis-Wellesley Orchestra.Joanna focused her studies in music around theory and analysis, and wrote an Honors Thesis on her composition "String Quartet in E minor" for which she was a recipient of the Billings Academic Award. With her avid love for teaching, she worked as the Teaching Assistant and the Grader for various music theory courses as well as a Music History course at Wellesley.Joanna has had a wide range of experience in piano, including chamber music, larger-scaled ensembles like wind symphony or orchestras, jazz band, musical pit orchestra, as well as solo performance. With these various expertise, she is able to teach students based on what the student is looking for in terms of the style of playing, genre of music, specific pieces, etc. Having lived in Northbrook, IL for nearly 10 years and in New England for college, Joanna is fairly new to Salt Lake City, and she looks forward to meeting her students at the Piano Place.
