Laynee has been surrounded by music entire life. The piano was her first instrument and the piano was a crucial building block to finding her voice. Originally from Arizona, she was heavily involved in the choral and musical theatre worlds there and spent most of her formative years in rehearsal and performances. Her favorite roles to date are Tracy in Hairspray, The Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods and accompanying in the pit orchestra for a number of musicals including Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Her favorite choral experience came when she moved to Utah to attend BYU. She spent 3 years involved in BYU Singers and served as Section Leader and Vice President. During her time with Singers, she had the opportunity to travel Southern Utah, across Arizona, Louisiana and to Indonesia and Vietnam. Laynee has a degree in Music with an emphasis in Voice Education from BYU and has a passion for sharing music with anyone who will listen. She has taught private voice and piano since age 15 and has only grown to love it even more. She believes that there is special power in music and that power can help instill confidence and an inimitable belief in one’s self that no other medium can. She strives to cultivate a teaching atmosphere that promotes a love of learning and ongoing music appreciation, inside and outside the classroom. Laynee lives in American Fork with her husband Grant and dog Milo. She loves running, reading, watching movies and eating good food. She is thrilled to be a part of the Piano Place team and to spread her love, and the joy, of music.
