Piano, Piano Place Jr's | Farmington

Music has been a part of Margaret’s life ever since she can remember! She comes from a family that was involved in music in many ways. Margaret remembers often hearing her older brothers or sisters playing songs on the piano that she wanted so badly to learn. It was almost like a rite of passage, and was the motivation she needed to keep her practicing. However, much credit goes to her mom since she was the push behind Margaret’s music lessons, especially since her mom never had the opportunity to take lessons as a child. Margaret’s dad on the other hand, took piano lessons growing up, and played the piano very well. Margaret will forever be grateful to her parents, as well as her husband, for their continued support and for their love and appreciation for good music.

Margaret’s qualifications include

  • 12 years of piano lessons, 2 of which were at college.
  • 6 years of Music Federation for piano, and 2 years of that for flute. Margaret received “Superior” ratings for each of those performances.
  • Participated in band in middle school, and took private flute lessons for a few years.
  • Minor in Music and Major in Elementary Education at BYU-Idaho.
  • Taught piano lessons for 8 consecutive years, between Idaho and Colorado.
  • Elementary school choir pianist for 2 years in Colorado.
  • Taught Music part-time at Farmington Elementary from March 2019 to March 2020 (at which time all schools shut down due to the COVID pandemic).
  • Numerous performances accompanying individuals, small groups, and choirs, and many solo performances

Margaret’s philosophy is that there is a world of discovery when it comes to music, and she is excited to take her students there! Her goal is to give her students the best opportunities to excel, but it really comes down to what they want. Margaret is excited to be working at The Piano Place, and she is looking forward to getting to know her students!

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
- Billy Joel
