Bret started playing music when he was ten years old, and his first band was playing shows by the time he was twelve. In the last twenty years he's been performing, writing, touring, and recording with groups of every style he can find.
But more than any of that, he values the music teachers that taught him along the way, and how he has been able to spread that knowledge and joy to students of his own. Before anything else, he believes if a person enjoys music at all, they can love playing.
Moving between the two sides of music knowledge and education, versus playing and physically creating something, is where Bret's teaching method finds its balance. No student wants to practice if they aren't excited about what they're learning, so creating and bolstering that excitement is the job of every teacher. There won't be "fun stuff" or "boring stuff" to learn--it's all music, and it can all be enjoyable!
