Nick started playing drums at age 11. Early on, Nick developed his passion for drums that then blossomed into a love for percussion, and now he enjoys studying and performing genres from all over the world, including Indonesian Gamelan, Brazilian Samba, and Afro-Cuban Drumming. Nick is currently a senior studying percussion performance at the University of Utah under the tutelage of Dr. Michael Sammons, Kelly Wallis, Danny Soulier, and Keith Carrick. Nick has performed with many notable ensembles, including the Utah Symphony, the Utah Drumline, the Utah Philharmonic, the Draper Philharmonic, the Battalion Drum & Bugle Corps, Cinq Percussion, and the University of Utah Marimba Quartet that placed 2nd in the Chamber Competition of the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. Nick has over 8 years of teaching experience from private lessons, to group music classes, to drum circle facilitation, and greatly enjoys the fulfillment of sharing the wonderful joy and healing power of music. He always strives to make music a lab for developing life skills such as creativity, problem-solving, patience, perseverance, focus, and accountability. Most of all, Nick believes that music is meant to be enjoyed, so he encourages his students to have fun!
