Piano | Lehi / Highland

Sonia Oliver often goes by Sonni because it explains her bubbly, optimistic, and sweet personality. Sonni has studied in an intensive Suzuki hybrid piano studio for 12 years. She is sensitive and patient. She loves providing a safe environment where students can learn to their heart's content.

One thing Sonni wants her students to learn is how music is a way to express your emotions when no other words can. She focuses on teaching her students sight reading and playing the piano with technical accuracy.

Piano has taught her more than just how to play an instrument, she has learned many life lessons like how to be determined and stick to a task. Sonni encourages playing with emotion, by reminding students that music is a living thing, it helps them understand how it is a universal language.

Sonni has played the piano for choirs and talent shows and loves to perform so she can reach others with her music. She is currently studying for her capstone recital, and can relate to the feelings and responsibility of being a piano student.

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
- Billy Joel
