Abby Payne has been a music enthusiast ever since she saw The Little Mermaid at the tender age of 3. After memorizing every Disney song she could, her enthusiasm for music grew to include piano at age 8, then violin at age 11. Although she admits that at times her young 13-year-old self didn’t want to practice, she persisted, taking steady piano lessons for 10 years and steady violin lessons for 7 years. Looking back, she is beyond grateful for her parents’ love and support in helping her stay committed to music. It has truly blessed her life and her family and friends lives in countless ways.
Through the years, she performed with her high school’s top choir and orchestra (as concert mistress), participated in the Eastern Idaho Upper Valley Music Festival (in violin and piano) with near perfect scores every year, and taught about ten violin and piano students of her own.
Her hard work paid off as she became Rigby Idaho High School’s 2008 Junior Miss Scholarship winner and subsequent Top-ten Idaho State Junior Miss finalist. She was also offered a full-ride scholarship to BYU Idaho for violin performance, but chose to accept the once-in-a-lifetime offer to dance and perform with the elite and competitive BYU Ballroom Dance Company in Provo, Utah.
There is no question, Abby knows how to perform! While at BYU, she studied music, dance, a little bit of theater, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education. With this degree she hopes to be as employable as possible so she can teach math, music and ballroom dance in the schools: three of her most favorite things.
Abby resides in Lehi, Utah with her husband, Scott, and their two adorable, little, redheaded girls. Two little mini Abbys, as most people would call them. Aside from music, Abby enjoys good books, movies, makeup, fashion, organizing, the outdoors, and sleeping.
