Piano | Lehi / Highland

Robin Smith grew up in Fresno, California.  She comes from a large, extended musical family who constantly sang and played musical instruments together.  Robin started taking piano lessons at age 5, with her favorite teacher—her mom— and continued taking lessons from several accomplished teachers over the following 12 years.  One of her favorite things

to do when she comes home to visit, is to sit at the piano and play duets with her mom late into the night!

Music has always been one of Robin’s passions.  She loves to learn, teach, and perform.  She studied choral music as a child and performed with the Central California Children’s Choir for 8 years.  Later, during her high school years, she became a member of an elite auditioned choir called Encore and performed all over Central California.

During her high school years Robin also became involved in musical theater.  In addition to piano, Robin learned to play the organ, and has served as church organist and children’s group pianist for several years.  She has served as church choir director, as well.  She competed in pageants with classical piano as her talent.

Along with her love of music, Robin’s other love is teaching children.  She worked as a swimming instructor for the largest swim school in Central California during summers and has taught hundreds of children to swim.  She has taught piano and dance, and has been a favorite Sunday School / Primary teacher, for several years.  She has a good rapport with children, and justifiably claims ‘favorite aunt’ status with her many nieces and nephews.

Robin received a B.S. degree in Family Science from Brigham Young University, in Family Science.  She is a licensed beautician and is an accomplished hair and makeup artist.  Robin is very excited to be teaching piano with The Piano Place and looks forward to helping her students develop the skills to become proficient pianists; and foster in them a great, lifelong love for music.

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
- Billy Joel
