Spencer is an accomplished pianist, flutist and accompanist with several superior music performance awards on both instruments. He started his musical journey in North Carolina and moved to Utah in 2016 where he continues as a musician. He began private instruction at 7 years old and has spent thousands of hours playing the piano. Since 2015, Spencer has been hired as a professional piano accompanist for ensembles and soloists in a wide range of applications, helping those ensembles excel in competitions and auditions. Additionally, he has performed piano concertos and other performance pieces with local symphonies and ensembles.Spencer began teaching in 2017 where he taught beginner to advanced pianists a wide range of genres and skills. Teaching brings him the greatest joy and purpose in music, where he is continually invested in his students’ growth and success. His passion and joy for music is contagious and it continually motivates his students to grow as young players. Spencer has also taught a variety of master classes and intensives in piano and flute.As a classically trained musician, Spencer focuses on teaching new age, pop, and classical music. The essential skills learned from these genres allow the student to branch out to nearly every genre available. Students are encouraged to explore their inner creativity and are inspired to express their individual personalities and feelings through music. Spencer feels that his purpose as a teacher is to meet the player where they’re at and enable them to grow as both a musician and as an individual. Spencer also pushes his students and emphasizes the importance of foundational skills, dedication, and practice, while finding joy at each step of the way. These foundational skills are essential life-long attributes that will set the young musician up for success in all areas of their life!
