Amelia

Drums | Lehi / Highland, Pleasant Grove

Amelia is a graduate from Brigham Young University, with a Bachelors of Art in Music with an emphasis in Percussion. She attended two different universities from different parts of the US during her time as a music student, being able to accumulate different styles of percussion under her belt. She was drumline section leader at North Carolina Central University and Brigham Young University, giving her a strong background in marching percussion and teaching. She has a strong love for the drum kit as well and loves playing pop, rock, R&B, and all other styles of drum kit.

From a very young age, the drum kit caught her attention and has been a driving force in her love for music. She enjoyed studying and playing drums during her time in college. Amelia was the first college student to be a featured clinician at the Percussive Arts Society Festival of Utah (PAS of Utah). She taught a clinic on Stick Tricks, and got the crowd really excited about fun ways to perform drumming. She played drums for different groups at BYU, including the BYU Young Ambassadors. Her love for the marching snare drum has helped her travel the country, with a performing group of six snare drummers called Find Your Rhythm. With this group she performed for big corporate events and held clinics for high school drumlines throughout the east coast. Amelia has a strong love for performing, and this has landed her many gigs in the entertainment world of percussion, and helped her with her confidence in musicianship.

Amelia has been teaching private lessons in drumming since 2020. These lessons have ranged from marching percussion to drum set players of different backgrounds. Amelia has always been very passionate about giving students that passion and excitement she felt when she first started drumming. She loves to instill that same confidence drumming gives her, to others in their playing and performance. Drumming and music is something she strongly believes should be enjoyed even in practice, and loves to show students what they're capable of if they put their minds to it. Since she started drumming very late in her music career at the age of 17, and managed to accomplish everything she did in the span of 7 years, she believes there is nothing you can’t do when you put your mind to it!

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
