Drum Lessons

Learn to Play the Drums

Playing the drums can be a profession or a hobby, but learning this instrument is more like a calling than a personal decision. Like Mumble, the tap-dancing penguin from Happy Feet, drummers hear a beat, an internal rhythm that often compels them to tap away on a desktop, steering wheel, their leg or most anywhere. We help drummers channel their passion with drum lessons at The Piano Place, with locations in Draper, Lehi, South Jordan, Salt Lake City and Farmington.

Drumming has a Zen-like quality that hearkens back to its origins in native religious traditions and dances. It’s basic, primal, hypnotic. At the same time, becoming a good drummer means learning the conventions and mastering the skills that we teach in drum lessons.

Students Who Take Drum Lessons

Over the years, drummers have acquired a bit of a stereotypical reputation perhaps best embodied by the beloved Muppet, Animal. While plenty of famous drummers are known for hammering away on their instruments with great ferocity, we assure you there are plenty of mild-mannered drummers who can keep just as good of a beat!
One good thing about drum lessons is that you don’t have to worry about the size of the students’ fingers and their ability to hold their instrument. They just have to hold the drumsticks!

But if you’re already a teenager or even an adult, it’s not too late to start taking drum lessons. You may have previously taken lessons and given it up for a time, you may love drumming but have never taken a formal lesson or you may have never in your life held a drumstick! It doesn’t matter — we teach everyone at The Piano Place.

And we teach them at their own pace. That’s the beauty of rolling enrollment for individualized lessons — each instructor tailors the lesson to the student. If you’re in a band already and you’re having trouble progressing past a certain point, we can help you break through. If you’re a newbie and you’re still unfamiliar with the kit setup, that’s OK too. We start wherever you are right now.

Drum Lessons at The Piano Place

It’s true that if you look at the drumming world, you will see more boys and men than women and girls. But that doesn’t mean girls and women shouldn’t take drum lessons. Women are underrepresented in so many parts of American society, and at The Piano Place, we’re working to make it better balanced, so if you’re a girl who wants to take drum lessons, come work with us.

The Piano Place is your source for drum lessons, but we also offer lessons in guitar, violin, ukulele, voice and piano. We accept students on an ongoing basis, so you can enroll at any time.
