Dax

Piano | Lehi / Highland

Dax’s lifelong passion for piano began in 4th grade while learning “He’s a Pirate” by ear. By heeding his mom’s advice to practice, Dax leveled up his skills and unlocked a journey that led him through jazz and commercial music ensembles, wind symphony, and a collegiate improv group. Along the way, he earned distinctions such as the Sterling Scholar in Instrumental Music and the Woody Herman Jazz Award. Dax enjoys pushing his creativity—often practicing with his eyes closed—and has composed original works, including a piece titled Ancient Potato. A former varsity baseball player, he understands the discipline it takes to build skills both on the field and at the piano.

Holding a B.S. in Psychology and pursuing graduate studies in Human Factors, Dax draws on educational psychology and human performance to shape a flexible, student-centered approach. He has taught beginners and advanced players alike, including amputees, neurodivergent students, and learners from both traditional and homeschooling backgrounds. His philosophy is that music is a medium of self-discovery and expression. Whether building nimble fingers with Mozart, matching the groove of Stevie Wonder, or exploring creativity through jazz and composition, Dax helps every student develop the skills and confidence to thrive at the piano.

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
- Billy Joel
