Ian is a musician, composer, performer, singer, songwriter, and music producer. He has been obsessed with music since taking piano lessons at age 7. He has studied guitar, ukulele and piano since 2010 and graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor's degree in Commercial Music and a certificate in Music Technology in 2025. His studies have led him to new opportunities such as playing in a number of local bands like Crush and Finch and the Magpies, editing tracks for college plays, and composing for local film. In addition, Ian produces his own music under the alias Verus, consisting of EDM, acoustic, rock, and metal styles. Ian has taught guitar, piano and ukulele since 2023 at various studios, and seeks to teach students how to learn their favorite songs and learn the art of musicianship through their favorite music. Topics such as technique and music theory are approached from the excitement of learning a song rather than learning in a classroom setting or filling out worksheets. Ian’s teaching reflects how music is a language; and one of the first steps of learning a language is SPEAKING rather than reading and writing.
