Julie

Piano | Draper

Julie started singing shortly after birth and began formal piano instruction at age 5. She then channeled her energy into additional musical instruction, starting flute at age 9, viola at age 10, and harp at age 12. She has since added Appalachian dulcimer, organ, handbells, and ukulele to the mix. She studied music at BYU, graduating with a BA in Music in 1998. She taught piano lessons during college and has been teaching again since 2012. She wants each student to enjoy playing and to make progress. She tailors her approach to the student while making sure there is a solid foundation of music theory mixed with history so concepts are clearly understood. She believes that quality musical experiences are accessible to anyone who wants them and that musicians are an important part of any thriving community. Most of her music making has been service oriented and she loves collaborating with other musicians. She is thrilled to be part of an organization focused on "making more than musicians."

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
- Billy Joel
