Preston

Drums | St George

Preston has been deeply involved in music since childhood and began drumming at age six. He attended Desert Hills High School and has participated in numerous competitions, including being nominated as Outstanding Soloist at Utah’s State Jazz Festival in 2025. Preston’s musical experience spans a wide variety of genres, including jazz, rock, metal, fusion, Cuban, indie, and funk. He is a sponsored artist for TRX Cymbals and Woodies Drumsticks, reflecting his dedication and professionalism in the drumming community. Preston began teaching private drum lessons in 2022 and has since developed a teaching style that focuses on making lessons engaging, practical, and fun. He emphasizes starting with playing music right away, rather than just theory, and works closely with students to build technique and confidence through songs they love and well-structured exercises. Drawing on his touring and performance experience, Preston encourages students to step beyond the practice room and prepare for real-world playing, including live shows and performing with other musicians. Preston believes that music education should inspire not only technical skill but also personal growth. He focuses on building confidence, creativity, and discipline in his students, helping them develop skills that carry over into everyday life. By tailoring lessons to each student’s interests and goals, he creates a positive and motivating environment that encourages a lifelong love of music and performance. Parents can be confident that Preston’s lessons foster both musical progress and meaningful personal development.

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
- Billy Joel
