If you need a piano teacher who can simplify lessons and empower you to grow in skill look no further. Sean started piano 8 years ago taking lessons at the locally acclaimed Calderone School of Music and learned classical, jazz, and music theory principles that span across all genres and instruments. Sean applies this knowledge playing in live settings at church, for conferences and events, and for intimate gatherings. His approach is analyzing his student's skill level then developing a tailor-made plan that is effective but also fun. Sean starts with fundamental concepts such as scales, major and minor chords, rhythm, melody, etc., and apply these concepts to improvise with gospel music, jazz, pop, and more. Sean goes through books, including Alfred's Piano Courses, that equips students with the ability to sight read and build repertoire. Sean’s goal for his students is to be able to read music as well as play by ear because both are important. He has taught group lessons with children (ages 6-12), adult lessons (ages 20-50) in person (in my studio and on-site) and online, lessons for children with disabilities, group lessons training other musicians, etc. He taught musicians and singers as the youth music director at his church and has also taught piano lessons at Baron's Vocal Studio. Overall, Sean has taught over 20 students! The feedback he has received is overwhelmingly favorable, being described as a teacher that "brought out such creativity and a fresh energy and love for music in my kids and I", and being "an amazing teacher and truly cares about his students". Sean works best with students who are inspired to learn and express themselves through improvisation or songwriting, but also works well with students who are looking to learn how to read and play piano pieces with technique and skill. Sean has developed extreme proficiency in eight years through some natural talent but also hard work and dedication which is why he’s very confident that he can help anyone learn. Sean would love to assist you with your piano goals!
