Whitney watched her older siblings playing piano, and started teaching herself piano as a child. Soon after she started lessons of her own and continued them through high school (5+ years). She was the choir president at her high school, and taught piano lessons in the neighborhood. Her love of music continued and she learned more about it's structure through theory classes in college.
One of her strengths is playing by ear, she learned a lot about "fake book" music and has done her own arrangements of songs she hears. She strives for her students to reach a place where piano is fun, not a chore. As a teacher her goal is for her students to gain a love of music and be able to use playing the piano to express themselves.
