William

Piano, Songwriting, Voice | South Jordan

William started singing in choirs at age 10 and taught himself piano by ear until age twelve. Throughout his teens he studied many different piano styles like pop, jazz, choral, and contemporary but was primarily steeped in classical technique. During that time he often accompanied solo instruments as well as congregational singing and was passionately dedicated to his own songwriting and music production. William discovered a deep love for teaching while at Utah Valley University and finished a degree in vocal music education in 2020.

A voraciously omnivorous student; he studied a wide variety of musical topics such as guitar, percussion, composition, songwriting, music theory, and conducting in addition to educational subjects some favorites being developmental psychology and vocal pedagogy. During the pandemic he focused on elevating his piano skills and continues to reach for new depth, repertoire, and personal goals on that boundless instrument.

William has been teaching voice and piano for 10 years and loves working with beginners emphasizing musical literacy and facilitating  long term healthy and personalized technique. “Play and expression are paramount in my philosophy, pretty much all I did as a kid was play and express and that has left me with a lifelong love of music, I hope to help each of my students find their own love for music and have some fun along the way!

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
