Alexis is a classically trained violinist and educator who began her music teaching journey in 2008 while in Boston. Her approach combines the Suzuki repertoire with her own teaching methods designed to develop strong sight-reading skills from an early stage. She places a strong emphasis on technical fundamentals, musicality, and building the skills that allow students to explore whatever styles of music inspire them. Lessons incorporate ear training, rhythm and subdivision, music reading, listening, improvisation, and exposure to a wide range of musical genres. Alexis believes that learning an instrument should extend beyond the lesson itself by helping students develop a deeper understanding of how music works, how to listen, and how the violin can function in many different musical settings. In addition to her work as a violinist and educator, Alexis is a DJ, electronic music producer, and multi-genre instrumentalist. She enjoys incorporating improvisation and contemporary influences into her musical practice and encourages students to see the violin as an instrument with possibilities far beyond traditional repertoire.
