Bass, Guitar, Mandolin | Sandy

Hello! My name is James Cline, and I’m thrilled to be your music teacher! With over thirty years of experience teaching music, I'm here to help you find joy and expression through guitar, ukulele, mandolin, bass, and more. I earned  a Doctorate in Music from the University of Colorado-Boulder. In my college days I studied with Mike Christiansen and Charles Wolzien and performed for Christopher Parkening, John Williams and Sergio Assad. I've worked with students at several Colorado schools: I’ve taught Guitar, Music Appreciation and Music Theory at Front Range Community College; I directed the Guitar Program and Guitar Ensembles at Regis University; and I was a Visiting Guest Artist working with Guitar Majors at Denver School of the Arts. My recent move from Colorado to Utah marks an exciting new chapter, and I'm eager to share my passion for music with students here at The Piano Place! In addition to teaching, I've performed with various ensembles such as the Mountain Music Ensemble and the Colorado Guitar Quartet. My work as a soloist and chamber musician includes premiering new works by contemporary composers, performing with the Colorado Music Festival and releasing original music for Ukulele and guitar. I can't wait to explore the world of music with you and help you grow as a musician. Let's create, play, and enjoy music together! I'm excited to meet you and begin our musical journey!

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
- Billy Joel
