Samantha began playing the piano with her grandmother when she was six years old. Since 2002, she has taken lessons in classical piano, organ, and voice, and graduated in 2024 from BYU with a Master’s in Organ Performance. During middle school, she began her career in collaborative piano, playing for choirs, instrumentalists, vocalists, and even ballet classes, which continued through college and beyond. She attributes her ease of picking up new music to excellent training in music reading, and strongly values teaching that skill to her students. Since 2020, Samantha has been the Director of Music and Organist at Provo’s Episcopal church, including directing choir. She was lucky enough to be employed for three years with Bigelow & Co. Organ Builders and to travel the country, culminating with an organ installation in NYC at the end of 2025. She is excited to settle into her teaching career and be a part of The Piano Place! Post college, Samantha’s musical studies have included how to overcome common issues in the music world such as performance anxiety, poor self-esteem, and overuse injuries, and she strives for her lessons to build positive mental habits for children and adults while developing musical skills for fun, self-regulation, and expression. She loves both the joyful simplicity of a curious new student and diving deeper into topics like sensitive artistry, music theory, and collaborative playing. She lays a strong foundation of rhythm, ear training, technique, and music reading for her beginning and early students, knowing also that at the end of the day, music is just for fun!
